Seko Fofana is one of the players that have been linked with AC Milan this summer, as the Rossoneri are looking for a midfielder. The Lens star has now responded to the links, albeit being very coy.
Fofana has been linked with Milan in the past and it’s thus not a surprise that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are evaluating him again. Having played for Udinese previously, he’s also a player that knows the league very well.
In an exclusive interview with MilanNews, the midfielder was asked about the recent links with Milan. He admitted that he could have joined the club already in 2020, but also made it clear that he’s happy in France currently.
Would you like to join Milan? The management likes you a lot.
“My friend Mike Maignan plays for Milan. The Rossoneri are a great team that have just won the Scudetto. I like Milan but today I’m in Lens, where I’m happy. I don’t pay much attention to the rumours.”
But would it be difficult for you to say no to Milan?
“Maldini has to talk to the club if he wants me, I don’t decide. Milan could have signed me in 2020 before I came here, then nothing came of it. I repeat, I’m fine here, I have a good life in Lens and after so many years in Italy, I enjoy my country. Let’s see what will happen.”
What do you think of the Milan project? Would you like to be the leader of a young group?
“Milan have a great team. I always talk to my friend Mike Maignan who confirms that Milan have great goals for the future. They have many experienced players like Zlatan and Giroud and now they will have to confirm themselves. I hope they will do well.”
It remains to be seen if anything will materialise from Milan’s interest, but the feeling is that they are looking at other targets for now. In any case, it’s yet another player that appreciates the Rossoneri project from a distance.
