The coach has chosen to make three changes to the starting line-up from the team that won the game before the international break, with Davide Calabria and Fikayo Tomori coming into the defence and Alvaro Morata leading the line.
Fonseca spoke to Sky around 45 minutes before kick-off and he was asked about the magnitude of the occasion in addition to the decisions he has made regarding the starting XI, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
Tonight is your Champions League debut at San Siro…
“It’s always great to play here with our fans, their support is always very important. Coming back here to start the Champions League is always exciting. A great match against a great team, we’re looking forward to playing a good match to make our fans proud.”
Will we see Milan with a three-man midfield?
“I think the structure is important but not the most important. We want to have clear intentions, I liked the last match, it will be a different game because we will find a different opponent, but we want to play our game and we will need a very strong collective.”
Will it be Leao’s night?
“We had this opportunity to preserve mainly Rafa and Reijnders. The motivation of the players is always very high, Rafa has always done very well in the Champions League and we expect him to be decisive today because it is a match with the characteristics for Rafa.”
Who hired this idiot 🤬
