Theo Fonseca pre-Genoa

CM: Fonseca set to switch formation vs. Genoa with punishments in mind

Paulo Fonseca made himself clear on Wednesday, that his AC Milan team will no longer have passengers, and Sunday’s match will be the first showing of this.

By all accounts, the fixture against Genoa should be a celebration of Milan, a showing of Rossoneri spirit and everything good attached to the club, so you could argue there is no greater punishment than being benched for this game.

Players like Theo Hernandez, who have been so big for the club in recent times, would and should be a poster boy for the occasion, but we are heading towards a different idea.

Instead, Theo should be among the substitutes, just as Fikayo Tomori should be due to their attitude problems, as reported by Calciomercato.com. Perhaps, the duo will also be joined by Davide Calabria, who made a stand against Fonseca in midweek.

Should this happen, the back four should be made up of Emerson Royal, Matteo Gabbia, Malick Thiaw and Filippo Terraciano. In front of them, there will be no changes, Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana, however, they will be joined by Yunus Musah to form a midfield three – Musah and Reijnders could switch periodically to provide support as a No.10, though.

The triad of Samuel Chukwueze, Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham should lead the line.

  1. Thought the idea behind royal was his ability to play anywhere in defense. Yet he always plays rb and poorly ofc.

    Dàmn I miss florenzi

    1. With Florenzi we’d probably be 3rd ATM. Pure class. On and off the pitch. In defense and in attack. Even with his broken leg he’d be more useful on the pitch than Emerson.

  2. Musah the number 10 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t want to belittle him, but playmakers have always been the players who are the most intelligent and technically the best in the team, and now i have to watch musah or loftus playing that role 😂 musah is for sure one of the dumbest player in team, he has a desire, ideas and energy but he is too dumb to provide ,let the guy play some easier position

    1. He needs to mimick Kessie, that’s the only playstyle he can be quality in. attacking and passing isn’t his strength, he needs to give up on that…

  3. One would think our Fonseca would utilise our youth players more but seeing he is bent on playing Terraciano out of position every time instead of a natural left bothers me.

  4. All for the changes although I would like to see Jiminez get a chance at LB. Put in the players who really want to be there and will give a full effort rather than those that put themselves above the team.

  5. This rubbish instead of Fonseca should play 4-3-3 knowing fully well Milan are not 4-3-3 team is better he plays the 4-4-2 playing chukwueze and leao as wide wingers carmarda and Tammy Abraham as striker the 4-4-2 can give us security and cover than 4-3-3 till when will get all the players we supposed to get ordinary confrontation with player Fonseca is now changing formation this coach doesn’t really knows tactics.

    1. 4-4-2 doesn’t work in modern football as there are only 2 midfielders. You say that Fonseca is a clown, but you’re the real clown here🫵😂

  6. So three of our four backline from the Scudetto-winning season are being benched for poor performances.

I blame Pioli. The players have not improved one bit since that 2020/21 season. 2 years of squad stagnation.

Fonseca has the right ideas, but I don’t believe he has the charisma to get through to this team to make them improve. Props for him unlocking Leao in November (when he normally unlocks himself in January/February), but he’s failed to motivate the team in-game to get the results we want.

The unfortunate thing is, Zebrahimovic will likely hire his friend Tudor if we sack Fonseca, which will set the team back further with another change in philosophy and tactics. Nothing will change, because Zebra and his cronies won’t hire a coach for more than 2M.

So if anything I just hope that Fonseca succeeds in unlocking the players to play as a team. Because that’s the best case scenario we can get right now.

    1. You blame Pioli for what’s going on this season? Damn, can I have some of that sand you’re rubbing into your eyes, cause this blissful ignorance of yours seems amazing.

There’s this thing called statistics, you can check and compare. And currently this statistics, show Fonzy here is no better than Giampaolo.

      1. Clearly the team isn’t happy with Fonseca. What are we waiting for?! If our players aren’t happy they underperform. I’d hate to lose our quality players over Fonseca…

    2. I partly agree. Theo never been coached right from pioli how to play fast and how to pass accurate in front. In general Milan played 2 years boring most uncreative football I’ve every watched. This is still stuck in the team although fonseca managed to improve their palystyle already just the numbers in Serie A are not there but that also had to do with the other teams being much better then last season. Also I believe we should play 442 it worked well when we did it especially on attack so I don’t get why he doesn’t want to try it. We have 2 strikers that can defend well and track back

    3. What a stranger take.

First jr they won Scusetto why did they need to improve? That’s a pretty good ceiling. The real question is what’s changed since then? Hint about 75% of the squad including the entire m midfield.

Second how is Pioli who finished 2nd to blame, and not the guy who has us 7th???

      Third where’s your gratitude?

  7. That’s a gut move, but I still don’t see the futuro in starting lineup – kinda lame.

Now feel a little excited for this game, don’t know what the result would be. It would be funny and interesting if result didn’t go in the right way as expected. Haha

  8. Sometimes I wonder how Musah got to play professional football. The guy lacks everything but energy. Everything he does seem to suggest that he should try any other vocation that does not require the use of brain.
