Footmercato: Milan make Arsenal defender ‘a priority’ with new attempt scheduled

By Isak Möller -

One of the priorities for AC Milan this summer is to reinforce the defence, having conceded too many goals in the 2023-24 season. According to a report, an old target has re-appeared on the Rossoneri’s radar, namely Jakub Kiwior.

Milan have been following Kiwior since his time at Spezia and tried to sign him before he joined Arsenal. They have also tried to sign him multiple times from the Gunners, but the latter have always blocked a potential move.

According to FootMercato, the 24-year-old is now back on the Rossoneri’s radar as he’s considered to be ‘a priority’ for this summer. Kiwior still has a contract until 2028 so Arsenal would have to be open to a departure, which Mlan expected to probe the ground very soon.

The Polish international has mainly played as a left-back for Arsenal but those who remember his Serie A days will know that he’s a good centre-back too. For Milan, it could be the perfect reinforcement as they also need someone to cover for Theo Hernandez in some games.

It remains to be seen if these links will be confirmed by the Italian media, but it wouldn’t be surprising given Milan’s past interest in the player.

    1. I don’t understand why, there is so much better in seria A, which has a much better chance of success. Not good enough for Arsenal but worth 20m plus to us, you must be kidding, a non obligation loan, maybe then

They should be going all out for Boungeruno and De’Lorenzo, these two and maybe Hummels on a free and we have an amazing world class backline.

      1. Serie A is too expensive for too little talent. Buongiorno is not worth 40 million. Not even close. This is the case with most of the Italian prospects. We can get the same quality for less money elsewhere, and I’d argue that Kiwior would be an even better defender for Milan because he fits the style of play and is left-footed. If we were to splash big cash on an Italian defender, then the only choice should be Calafiori. But he is going to Juve, so that’s not happening

    2. He’s a left back. What are you talking about. Cover for Theo. He was part of that Spezia team when they beat us, he kept our midfield quiet from defensive midfield in that game.

    1. They’ll be buying Italians only to comply with regulations. Players like Terracciano, Pobega and Gabbia will be there for number only.

    2. I’m Italian but it isn’t a train smash, as long as there is quality, because the Italian teams are going to hold us over a barrel for transfer fees. If we get Buongiorno I’d be happy that’s enough, we have enough Italians coming up from the Primavera

  1. He could be a CB option but he’s no back up to Theo. But even at CB there are better options available.

If Fonseca is a stop gap, let’s hope the players brought in aren’t
