Four worrying statistics from Milan’s 5-2 defeat against Sassuolo

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of worrying statistics have emerged after AC Milan were hammered 5-2 by Sassuolo at San Siro this afternoon to continue their dreadful run of form.

Firstly, OptaPaolo revealed that Milan have conceded at least four goals in two Serie A matches in a row for the first time in their history, and of course it would go on to get worse as Sassuolo scored a fifth goal.

That meant that Milan conceded at least five goals in a Serie A home match for the first time since 6 April 1997, when they were beaten 1-6 by Juventus in a game many consider to be the worst in the club’s history.

Milan have now lost three games in a row (across all competitions) for the first time since September 2019, when Marco Giampaolo was in charge. He was then sacked, and replaced by Pioli.

Finally, Sassuolo are the first team in the Serie A history to have 5 different goal scorers in a single top-flight away match against Milan.

  1. These are the truly worrying stats;

    Milan 2-2 Roma. 3 shots on target, 2 goals.
    Milan 0-1 Torino. 3 shots on target, 1 goal.
    Lecce 2-2 Milan. 3 shots on target, 2 goals.
    Milan 0-3 Inter. 6 shots on target, 3 goals.
    Lazio 4-0 Milan. 5 shots on target, 4 goals.
    Milan 2-5 Sassuolo. 7 shots on target, 5 goals

    Man, from the 1st match when I said our defence was worrying (conceded 2 goals against Udinese), never thought it’d turn out into this kind of nightmare.

    1. Or klopp if Liverpool keep losing maybe they part. Can’t see either happening though. We’re f*cked and this runs deeper than changing tge manager

      1. Klopp is struggling, even after spending big on Gakpo and Nunez.. What made you? To think, he will win Champions League, with this squad?

      2. Both managers will require heavy budget to translate their ideas. Moreover Conte. How many time have we seen he left clubs because of disagreement with the management? Bottomline, both manager are not Milan’s material.

  2. what milan needs is an aggressively complete striker and a good goal keeper…i don’t know why tata keeps starting after they purchased a new goalie.

    we can’t just keep conceding lots of goal in a match…the board should try and bring in some already made players to fill in for now
