From England: Liverpool in talks with Bundesliga side over €33m-rated Milan target

By Oliver Fisher -

Liverpool want to tie up a deal for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak and have even begun talks with the Bundesliga club, a report claims.

Milan were linked with moves for a number of defensive targets during the summer transfer window but one of the names that emerged late was Kabak.

An intermediary who was involved in the negotiations revealed his belief earlier in the month that the hopes of Kabak joining Milan are far from over, and RMC Sport reported yesterday that Liverpool and Milan are both interested in the 20-year-old, who would cost €30-40m.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have opened talks with Schalke over a £20m (€22m) swoop for the Turkey international. The Premier League champions want the former Stuttgart star as defensive cover after learning Virgil van Dijk will miss the season with a torn ligament.

Their manager Jurgen Klopp is apparently a big admirer of Kabak, who was valued at around the €45m mark before COVID-19 affected the financies of football. They still believe though that they can bank around £30m (€33m) from his sale.
