RMC Sport: Liverpool and Milan battle for €30-40m centre-back as Klopp pressures board

By Oliver Fisher -

Liverpool want to wrap up a deal before January for Schalke 04 centre-back Ozan Kabak, it is claimed, but AC Milan are also keen.

Milan were linked with moves for a number of defensive targets during the summer transfer window but one of the names that emerged late was Kabak.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported how the contacts of Maldini and Massara could have sown the ground for the business to come, while an intermediary who was involved in the negotiations revealed his belief earlier in the month that the hopes of Kabak joining Milan are far from over.

According to RMC Sport though, Liverpool are set to make a bid for Kabak imminently and want to get a deal tied up before the window reopens.

Virgil van Dijk is out for a number of months with a serious ACL injury, leaving Jurgen Klopp thin on depth in his defensive department and therefore pushing the club’s hierarchy to address the issue.

The outlet add that Milan are also pushing for his signature and that Schalke are set to demand between €30m and €40m given they know how in demand their prized young asset is.
