From Germany: Milan agree €15m deal in principle for Lille star – competition from Dortmund beaten

AC Milan have already secured the replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma in the event he decides not to renew, a report from Germany claims.

According to reports from the German portal SPORT1 (via MilanNews), Milan have in fact won the race for Mike Maignan of Lille, overcoming the competition from Borussia Dortmund. The French goalkeeper has been ‘secured’ in the event that Gigio Donnarumma does not renew his contract.

The Rossoneri have found an agreement with Lille on the basis of a fee which will be €15m, and they have also agreed a five-year contract with the ex-PSG stopper. Maignan’s contract expires in June 2022, and while Dortmund are interested in the 25-year-old they will only move if Roman Bürki leaves the club.

With less than 80 days until Donnarumma’s contract expires and with the situation getting more and more uncertain as time goes on, and the German outlet claim Juventus are favourites to land him.
