From Spain: Milan pushing the hardest to land €25m defender as Liverpool cool interest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are the team most interested in landing Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak and may be able to get him in a cut-price deal, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com recently reported how Kabak is a player that remains in Milan’s sights and they could very well go back in for him when the window reopened having failed with an attempt to sign the 20-year-old late in the summer window, but that Liverpool are also interested.

According to Spanish outlet TF, the Turkey international has long been in Liverpool’s sights but this interest seems to have cooled in recent weeks, and it is Milan who are the team with the strongest interest in him.

The Bundesliga club intend to get a minimum of €25million for Kabak but the economic crisis could cause their claims to be slightly lowered.

It is worth noting too that Schalke’s sporting director Jochen Schneider recently confirmed that he was a target for the Rossoneri during an interview with WAZ, and also failed to rule out the idea he could leave in the next window.

“Milan knocked on our door at the end of the transfer market and a sale at that moment was out of the question for us,” he said.

“I only read what was written in those days. We are still in difficult economic times, this season could be played until the end without spectators. So I can’t and I don’t want to exclude anything.”
