From Spain: Real Madrid eye Donnarumma, €70m Chelsea keeper as Courtois back-up

By Oliver Fisher -

Real Madrid are considering a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, a report claims, as well as other solutions.

It has been well documented recently that the Rossoneri are not in the best of health financially, and that a renewal for Donnarumma – whose deal expires at the end of next season – will be very difficult due to his salary demands.

It was reported by Nicolo Schira earlier in the week that a number of clubs are sniffing around the Italy international including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, all of whom have tabled €8m-a-year deals to agent Mino Raiola.

According to Fichajes, the presence of Thibaut Courtois in the Real Madrid goal is more than assured after his great performances in this 2020, but Los Blancos are working on getting him a quality back-up.

The names on their list are as follows: Alphonse Areola, Andriy Lunin, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Donnarumma.

Arrizabalaga has been relegated to the bench at Chelsea, who paid €80m to secure his services in 2018, and could present an opportunity for the summer.

The outlet adds that Donnarumma is ‘seeking new challenges, more exciting and ambitious’.
