From Spain: Update on future of playmaker as Real Madrid could ‘start from scratch’ this summer

By Oliver Fisher -

Even with one do-or-die game remaining this season for AC Milan, planning for the next campaign is well underway and in particular what will happen with some loanees.

One of those is Brahim Diaz, who arrived on a season-long dry loan from Real Madrid last summer and has had plenty of playing time across all competitions, leading to speculation that Milan might try and negotiate to keep him.

According to Diario AS (via MilanNews), Zinedine Zidane will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and many players returning from loans may have a better chance of staying for the 2021-22 campaign. Gareth Bale, Dani Ceballos, Martin Odegaard and Brahim Diaz are named as players that the management are carefully monitoring.

On the Milan attacking midfielder, the sources writes he has ‘played a great season’ but in order for him to return some players in the same role should be sold. With a new coach, however, the club will ‘start from scratch’ and it could be that the 21-year-old stays.
