Gallery: ‘Milan enraged’, ‘Absurd to lose’ – Today’s front pages of Italian papers

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s 22-game unbeaten run in Serie A was ended on Sunday night as Napoli ran out 2-1 winners at San Siro, moving three points clear with Atalanta at the top.

All three goals came in the second half as Napoli took the lead when Matteo Politano converted a penalty after a foul from Sergino Dest, and while Olivier Giroud equalised it was substitute Giovanni Simeone who headed in the winner in the closing stages.

Below are the reactions of the Italian papers…

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Napoli sing, Milan enraged. Woodwork rattled twice: Diavolo fall after 22 games. Pioli: ‘If you play this well, you can’t then lose’.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Napoli win away at Milan: Scudetto masterpiece. Exciting game at San Siro: Politano opens with a penalty, Giroud replies and Simeone decides (header). But the main force is the Georgian [Kvara]. Kalulu off the crossbar. Pioli: ‘Tough to lose like this’.”

Tuttosport: “Milan only beautiful, but Napoli marvellous. Simeone conquers San Siro after Politano penalty and Giroud goal. Spectacular game. Pioli: ‘Absurd to lose playing like this’.”

  1. I don’t know why this kavara dude is so much overhyped, for the first 40 mins Calabria had him in his pocket, Calabria won every duel leaving the one that he got booked to and then media is like he is next Maradona…

    1. He’s a very good player. Even if Calabria had him he still got him and kjaer booked and then won the penalty. Maradona. No he ain’t, but for 12m euros I’d be wetting myself. This is one player I can’t forgive for not signing. Now we have Leao (the tail wagging the dog) in a great position against Milan and don’t have a sufficient deputy for him. This boy could have probably been a good right winger for us as well for rotation purposes and would have been a worthy deputy to Leao
