AC Milan will play their last game before the festive period tonight, taking on Hellas Verona at the Stadio MarcAntonio Bentegodi.
Milan had their 125th-anniversary celebrations tainted somewhat on Sunday night at San Siro as they laboured to a 0-0 draw against Genoa, getting jeered off the pitch at full-time.
There were protests from fans both after the game and outside the party the next night, plus suggestions that Paulo Fonseca needs a positive result to keep his job.
Today’s front pages
The Italian media this morning have made it clear how big a game it is for Fonseca’s future, while there is also talk of Fikayo Tomori being a target for Juventus.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Fonseca tries again. The coach insists on youth against Verona, who change owners.”
Corriere dello Sport: “The fatal hour. The Champions League spots are far away: Verona can decide Paulo’s future. Fonseca and Milan at a crossroads. Electric eve for the coach: ‘Sacking? I don’t feel at risk. Theo out? Not a punishment.’ Morata ko: tonsillitis. Abraham will play. Jimenez and Liberali confirmed.”
Tuttosport: “Juve, here’s Tomori. A new pathway in the search for a defender. He’s on the sidelines and can leave Milan in January. Juventus will try a Kalulu-style operation on loan.”
If they give another player to Juventus on loan with option to buy I think someone should burn the management alive.
I don’t trust the director transfer strategy. All about money
