Furlani talks experiencing games as a fan and ‘sad’ Tonali betting case

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has once again stressed how he experiences big games like a fan, while he also spoke on the Sandro Tonali betting scandal.

Milan come into the game having won seven games out of eight in the league thus far, putting them four points ahead of Juventus who are seen as being one of the other title candidates. Inter and Napoli’s wins have put the pressure on both sides to respond.

Last season marked the first time since 2009-10 that Milan did the double over Juventus, with a 2-0 victory at San Siro (goals from Tomori and Brahim Diaz) followed by a 1-0 in Turin that Giroud netted the winner in.

However, tonight is a new night and a new occasions, with Milan not having Mike Maignan or Theo Hernandez to call upon, while Marco Sportiello, Ismael Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Samuel Chukwueze are also injured.

Furlani spoke to DAZN before the game and touched on a number of different topics, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On tonight’s game: “I have always been a great AC Milan fan. Important matches await us, even if they are always important for us. I always thank the AC Milan fans.”

On Tonali: “All the AC Milan fans love him, it’s sad to read certain things. Let’s wait to see what will happen. It seems to be a widespread phenomenon, as Italian football we have to think about doing something.”

On Italian football: “We have recovered some positions, we have worked well as a sector. We have a good league, with four different Italian champions in the last four years. We must all continue to work to continue to bring people to the stadium and in front of the TV.”
