‘He should have a little more consideration’ – Gabbia’s agent unhappy with Milan treatment

Matteo Gabbia’s agent has expressed his displeasure at the way that AC Milan are treating his client with regards to a lack of playing time.

Tullio Tinti spoke to Radio Sportiva about a number of different players that he represents and naturally he was asked about Gabbia, who feels a strong attachment to his boyhood club but continues to be overlooked regardless of the coach.

“Milan renewed him a few months ago, but being Italian he always has to convince the coaches while the others arrive and get given the shirt [starting spot]. He should have a little more consideration: he has shown that he is Milan-worthy and has the attitude of a Milan-worthy player,” he said (via MilanNews).

It is quite hard to make a case against Gabbia, who was loaned out to Villarreal last season but brought back early amid a centre-back injury crisis and did a brilliant job when called upon. He seems to keep losing his starting spot when he is in far from bad form, which explains his agent’s frustrations.

As a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport outlined earlier today, Milan have tried six different pairings in the centre of defence this season and Gabbia features in three of the top four in terms of least goals conceded per game. His pairing with Malick Thiaw is actually the best by some distance.

  1. gabbia’s agent is 100% right. He is our most intelligent and most capable defender and is hardly used. I hate everything about this club at this point in time. even the things we can change and improve, we dont do.

  2. Need to change the culture of the team and start over with 70-80% Italians on the team. Get rid of all the prima donnas and the coach. Not many non-Italian coaches have won Serie A in the last 25 years… Go get an up and coming coach with experience like Davide Ancelotti. Enough with being happy with selling the most jerseys instead of cups.

    1. If 70-80% of the players are Italian Milan will be in the relegation zone.
Davide Ancelotti is up and coming coach with experience?
What experience does Davide Ancelotti have as a coach? Providing his father Carlo with chewing gum during games?

    2. I agree with going more homegrown. Check out our cast someday, Primo Calcio on YT. It’s small but we think along these lines. Milan for me needs to get back to it’s roots asap.

  3. “… but being Italian he always has to convince the coaches while the others arrive and get given the shirt [starting spot].”

This. And the last of the true Rossoneri. It must be so freaking tiring for him. But he never complained, always work in silence and delivers when called upon. He’s the only one worthy of the captain armband. Hope our next coach sees him for the player he is.

  4. This is where I knew we are going wrong. Tomori had Kjaer, Thiaw needs Gabbia. Players like Gabbia and Kjaer do not rely on physical gifts, they had to learn to actually read the game. Unfortunately Conceicao coaches like an English coach, brute force, kick and run. We will never survive with him unless we have talents like Luis Diaz who he had at his disposal.

      1. I can tell you’ve never played as a cb before, or if you have you were not good at it. To be a good cb you need to be able to read the game. Everyone forgets that a center backs main job is to defend for some reasonpeople dont get it, and it’s very annoying to read and hear people think they have to be attacking.

        1. Some idiots here think pace is all a player needs. Tomori gets praised for his speed. Sure, he’s fast enough to make way more mistakes than the others. Gabbia doesn’t need pace as he has other attributes a CB needs.

  5. Het Gabbia, Tell your agent to shut the F up. If you have a problem deal with it yourself with the coach. Don’t have your agent talk publicly.
Also it would help your case if you didn’t trip over the ball and give a goal away in Champions League.

    1. Statistically one of our two best CBs, but yeah tear him apart for the one mistake. Better bench him and put on a lesser CB, because he wasn’t perfect. What logic.

  6. Gabbia is one of d best ac Milan defender,if not bcoz of the champions league give away he do against mozagreb, but dat is football for us mistake can happen, dat doesn’t mean to bench him is d solution, but this formation he try now on training Wil work bcoz maignan, leao,Theo, Felix,Gimenez need some rest, use your bench has an experience Coach u are.

  7. I’m with Gabbia agent. It’s suck how these non-Italian coaches like Fonseca and Coneicau treated Italian players. Gabbia played well and somehow he got bench over and over.

    1. How did the Italian coach Pioli treated Gabbia? The kid had to leave Milan and go to Spain to play. In 4 months with Villarreal he played more than in 4 years with Pioli.

  8. Dude your client is one of the worst defenders to ever play this sport !!!!!!!! Poor on the ball, he can’t take the ball without committing fouls and yellow cards, he can’t pass forwards, terrible marking. he loses his stricker mark all time in the most dangerous areas, terrible positioning, slow with and without the ball !!!!! There is a bunch of reasons why we sent him on loan to a MID-TABLE team in Spain and he didn’t touch a ball there!!! Villarreal coach couldn’t believe how his MID-TABLE team would sign such player they cut the loan in 6 months, they sent the next Nesta back to us and told us to keep the money !!!!! What the hell is happening in AC MILAN !!!
