AC Milan defender Matteo Gabbia has revealed his delight after extending his contract with a ‘glorious club’, thanking the directors for their faith in him.

Via a statement on the club’s official website, they confirmed that Gabbia has extended his deal beyond the previous deadline of 2024 and is now under contract until 2026. It is another proud moment for the 22-year-old, who joined the Rossoneri at the age of 13 and made his first team debut back in August 2017.

After sealing his renewal, Gabbia gave an interview to the official Milan channels with his words relayed by MilanNews.

“I am delighted to have extended my contract with this glorious club, I am really happy and aware that this story will be beautiful and will last for a few more years,” he said.

“It is certainly a fantastic emotion to be part of this club and to have Maldini as its director. It’s something that makes me proud. Even just having a relationship with him a few years ago I lived it as a dream, today seeing him and living him in my daily life is something fantastic.

“We hope that it can be a good omen for some trophies that may arrive already this season. I wanted to thank Maldini, Massara and Gazidis who have always been by my side and the club for their trust.”

  1. We extend his contract instead of buying a central defender…Gabbia and Romagnoli are serie B quality, Romagnoli will leave, Kjaer has max 1 more year in his legs, Tomori is injured…
We absolutely need 2 CB…And loan Gabbia to a serie B team or sell him if anybody wants him
