CM: Gabbia forced to miss Milan’s Coppa Italia win over Lazio due to plantar fasciitis

By Oliver Fisher -

Though he was never likely to be named in the starting line-up, some will have noticed that Matteo Gabbia was not on the team sheet for last night’s game against Lazio.

Since the return of Alessio Romagnoli from Covid-19 it has been the captain partnering the young Pierre Kalulu at the heart of the defence relegating Gabbia to a role on the bench ready to come on if needed while Fikayo Tomori has been out and Simon Kjaer is a long-term absence.

However, Calciomercato.com recall how Gabbia was not on the squad list for the game against Lazio in the quarter-final of the Coppa Italia in the game that ended 4-0 in favour of the Rossoneri at San Siro.

According to what has been learned by the source, the 22-year-old centre-back has some discomfort in his foot, more precisely  plantar fasciitis, and for this reason he was not available for the game.
