Gallery: ‘Reijnders shines’, ‘Milan convincing’ – today’s front pages in Italy

AC Milan prevailed in the first edition of Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi last night, beating Monza 6-5 in penalties. It was a very special game and the emotions were running high, as highlighted in today’s papers.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes following goals from Christian Pulisic and Andrea Colpani. Milan had several good chances to take the lead but had to rely on the penalty shoot-out to claim the trophy.

On the front pages, Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote the following: “The Rossoneri prevail on penalties against Monza in the Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi. There’s more to #ACMilan with Reijnders. The Dutchman shines along with Loftus-Cheek. Pioli: ‘Reinforcements of a very high level’.”

Corriere Dello Sport: “Monza KO on penalties in the Trofeo Berlusconi. Pulisic and Reijnders – Milan are convincing.”

Tuttosport: “Monza KO on penalties. The first Trofeo Berlusconi goes to Milan, the great love of Silvio.”

  1. I love this team with all my heart but our performance technically and tactically are still far from convincing. With all those signings I doubt that Pioli could make use of the current squad’s devastating potential. Hope someday we could have a more creative, offensive and expressive coach. Maybe we could start from bringing Zlatan to the backroom as he would be an impactful figure I’m certain, albeit more mentally, not tactically.

  2. Convincing? Monza had closed us for like half hour on our half. We barely had chances in the second half.
Of course, it’s only the beginning and they’re not in a shape yet, but still we were on the same level with the team named Monza. it says a lot on how urgently we have to improve for the season.
