Galliani confirms Colombo interest: “We’ve been after the boy for some time”

By Oliver Fisher -

The CEO of Monza, Adriano Galliani, has confirmed that they are interested in signing Lorenzo Colombo and have held talks with AC Milan over a deal.

Colombo is currently the third striker in Stefano Pioli’s squad and he has been evaluating his performances during the preseason friendly matches both at Milanello and on the tour of the United States.

However, the rumours of a potential loan deal have never gone away. Given that he is 21 years of age this is a crucial period for his development and there has been no shortage of interested clubs, with the likes of Genoa and Cagliari also linked.

In our latest update, we reported how Colombo is actually pushing for a loan spell to get more consistent playing time elsewhere, but the Rossoneri management need to replace him first.

Galliani spoke during an interview with MonzaNews in which he spoke about a number of different incoming and outgoing operations, and he was asked about the latest on Colombo.

“Let’s see, we’ve been after the boy for some time. If Milan sign another striker, he will come to us. We haven’t discussed the formula yet,” he said.
