GdS: €12m in revenues and and 115 countries – the numbers of a global derby

By Oliver Fisher -

The game between Inter and AC Milan tonight at San Siro will set a new record for Italy in terms of ticket revenue from one game, a report claims.

Today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) writes how a sold out stadium will bring an amount of around €12m to the accounts of the Nerazzurri, beating the over €10m from the first leg owing to the higher prices for tickets set by the blue side of the city.

For a match that seals a place in the final in Istanbul, Inter changed their policy, increasing prices for each ticket category after they were more contained in the previous knockout matches against Porto and Benfica.

Milan set the previous box office record in the first leg when the 75,532 spectators who filled the stands at the Meazza brought €10,461,705 to Milan, a figure that at the moment is still the highest in the history of Italian football.

Over 50 broadcasters will be present for the game tonight, which will be broadcast in 115 countries. There will be no shortage of high profile guests, such as the UEFA president Ceferin and the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa.

Cordoba, Stankovic, Pandev, Orlandoni, Vieri, Ranocchia, Di Biagio, Berti, Ze Maria, Suazo and Colonnese will be there for the Nerazzurri, who have all been a part of great nights in their history.

Two American fans will be guests of Inter tonight, who were winners of the contest organised by Inter to allow overseas fans to attend the match with free flight, hotel and tickets.

  1. “Cordoba, Stankovic, Pandev, Orlandoni, Vieri, Ranocchia, Di Biagio, Berti, Ze Maria, Suazo and Colonnese”

Ehm, who??? LOL. All those names and Shevchenko alone was faaaaaar bigger star than all those combined.

    1. Ill agree that shevchenko is the biggest name but you really ought to know at least half of those players if not more and vieri was at least the most expenssive transfer ever at one point,

      1. TBH, only Orlandoni & Suazo says nothing to me but I know the others. Still doesn’t make them stars. 😀

        Come on, Ranocchia? LOL.

  2. Antonio and Mike from IFTV will be guests for Milan tonight.
They are better known than Orlandoni, Colonese and Suazo.
Suazo BTW refused to come to Milan after Milan and Cagliari agreed on the transfer because he wanted to go to inter. Went to inter and his career was finished after that transfer
