Both Gerry Cardinale and Steven Zhang are doing all they can to be the first to get the 20th Scudetto and thus the second star before their rivals.
As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, the winds of change are blowing hard in Milano. Milan and Inter have changed their skin, buying a total of 19 players, and the 20th could be Alexis Sanchez.

Twenty signings like the Scudetto – the twentieth, the second star – that both teams dream of. Milan and Inter are 19 (Scudetti won) to 19 at the moment, and the great race is likely to be one of the themes of the season.
Milan are on nine summer signings: Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Romero, Sportiello, Reijnders, Okafor, Chukwueze, Musah and now Pellegrino.
Cardinale has permitted investment in young talent but is looking for one more piece above all to complete the jigsaw which is a new striker. Hugo Ekitike and Armando Broja are among the names mentioned.
Zhang meanwhile is an ambitious visionary and since he became president of Inter – 26 October 2018 – he has been constantly present. He chose Beppe Marotta as managing director a few months later (December) to take his Inter project into a new dimension, that of success.
The Suning chairman wanted to export the Inter brand strongly all over the world and the first thing he understood was that titles were needed. He chose Antonio Conte who won the Scudetto, then Simone Inzaghi won two Coppa Italia and the two Supercoppa.
Now, Zhang wants another Scudetto because he wants the second star before his cousins in Milan. With the imminent arrival of Benjam Pavard the Nerazzurri are on 10 signings, and Alexis Sanchez should return if Joaquin Correa is sold.
Despite the wound of Romelu Lukaku’s betrayal, who was a friend of Zhang before even being the centre-forward at Inter, the Nerazzurri president gave the CEO a mandate: Marotta and Ausilio were asked to build a squad with 22 starter-level players.
Zhang now lives permanently in Milano and spends whole days at work, thinking about how to make Inter more and more competitive in all sectors. When he can, he follows training sessions in Appiano Gentile.
He has an excellent relationship with Inzaghi and agreed a second renewal with him recently, knowing that aiming for the Scudetto with a manager whose contract is about to expire could be risky.

Too soon to tell who has the advantage. Need to see how the new signings adapt. Inter still have a very strong midfield. Pavard is solid signing at the back. Thuram & Arna have done proving to do but look good early.
Our signings look great so far and still have more adaptations to go through. The real test will be against Roma and Inter itself.
In the short term, Inter seems stronger. So this year I see them ahead of us. They have more experienced players, more complete and solid squad.
But in the long run I am optimistic, I think we will be stronger. Younger, talented players. If there is patience, I think we will overpass the in the coming years.

Newcastle with their Saudi money, a team that has only now qualified for the champions league and no doubt has its sights set on the title, and also that plays in a far more competitive league, only signed 4 new players this summer.

So… Newcastle took a huge climb at the standings compared to the previous season. Milan took a nosedive from champions to 5th. Based on the results of the last season, which of the two teams needed more changes? If you don’t know the right answer here, you are even more clueless than you seem. 😀
