GdS: 9.7km travelled and an incredible top speed – Ibrahimovic silencing the doubters

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic registered an impressive top speed during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Cagliari, perhaps putting an end to doubts about his fitness.

The Swede was on the scoresheet as two second half goals – the first courtesy of Rafael Leao – helped the Rossoneri to a crucial first win of 2020.

As Monday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport notes (via MilanNews.it), Ibra has in fact shown that he is in great shape despite being 38 years of age and having spent only a short time training with his new team-mates.

He ran 9.7km in total traveled and reached the second-top speed in the entire Milan team at 32 km per hour (only Calabria was faster).

The paper adds that head coach Stefano Pioli and his staff have been impressed and surprised by Zlatan’s physical condition, and with Ibrahimovic on the pitch, Milan can build some momentum – especially in view of the fixtures between now and the derby.

After Wednesday’s match in the Coppa Italia against SPAL, the Rossoneri face Udinese, Brescia and Verona. Those are three potential banana skins, but could also be nine points if everything goes to plan.
