GdS: AC Milan eye €32m Chelsea man as part of swoop for Danish international duo

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking at signing both Sevilla defender Simon Kjaer and Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen this month, a report claims.

With Mattia Caldara set to complete his return to Atalanta over the weekend on the basis of an 18-month loan with option to buy, Stefano Pioli has been left a bit threadbare at the back.

Assuming that move goes through, the Milan boss would have just Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Matteo Gabbia as fit centre-back options.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport though – as cited by MilanNews.it – Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban are at work to address that issue.

The paper claims that they have given up on Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo, and that Simon Kjaer is now the hottest name in terms of a potential signing. The Denmark international is on loan at Atalanta from Sevilla but has barely played under Gian Piero Gasperini, meaning his loan could be terminated early.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Christensen is also a target and it cannot be excluded that Milan sign both in the end. Also a Danish international, Christensen will turn 24 in April and has not been used much by Franck Lampard this season. He is valued at €32m by Transfermarkt.
