GdS: Bad news arrives on both Rebic and Origi – when they should return

AC Milan’s injury woes continue as Ante Rebic and Divock Origi will not be available for the two big games coming up this week, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that the two forwards will in fact miss both tomorrow night’s match against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and the big game against fellow table toppers Napoli at San Siro on Sunday night.

For these two very important games, head coach  Stefano Pioli will therefore only have Olivier Giroud as a centre-forward so he will be asked to work overtime and run the risk of injury himself.

The medical staff hoped to recover at least Origi for the game at the weekend, but the Belgian will travel to be with the medical staff of his national team – in agreement with that of the club – to continue therapy on a muscle issue that now has developed into a tendon problem. He should be back after the break.

It could instead take a little longer to see Rebic return as he has a small herniated disc. The problem is being resolved and fortunately there should be no need for surgery, but we are looking at October for him to come back and he will need a longer reactivation phase.
