GdS: Benfica still interested in acquiring midfielder from Milan – the Rossoneri’s demands

Benfica remain interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer, according to a report.

Tuttosport reported earlier in the week Milan are ready to begin talks with the Lisbon-based club over a potential swap deal which would include Paqueta and reported January target Florentino Luis.

Benfica sporting director Rui Costa in particular admitted his admiration for the Brazilian in a recent interview “I followed Paquetá in Brazil, he has great qualities and I would have liked to take him to Benfica. But I couldn’t do it because it had already become too expensive for a Portuguese club.”

The Turin-based outlet claimed that a valuation of around €20-25million has been placed upon Paqueta, who cost €35m when he arrived from Flamengo in January 2019.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday (via Calciomercato.com), Benfica are interested in acquiring Paqueta during the upcoming window.

With regards to the cost of the potential deal, Milan’s primary objective will be not to record a loss (presumably means avoiding a loss on the balance sheet), while there is no mention of a swap deal.
