GdS: Boban and Maldini to leave Milan as Gazidis’ right-hand man pushes for Rangnick

By Oliver Fisher -

Ivan Gazidis right-hand man Hendrik Almstadt is the key person behind the interest in Ralf Rangnick, according to a report.

Rangnick has been heavily linked with AC Milan in recent weeks, with reports suggesting that he could take on a role as both sporting director and manager.

After Paolo Maldini had denied the reports by claiming his is not the right figure for Milan, Boban had his say on the situation, hitting out at CEO Ivan Gazidis by stating that the former Arsenal man went behind their backs when initiating contacts with the German manager.

According to the latest from La Gazzetta dello Sport however (via MilanNews), it is in fact Gazidis’ right-hand man in Hendrik Almstadt who is pushing for Rangnick’s arrival.

The paper claims that the German is the biggest advocate of hiring his compatriot, while Zvonomir Boban and Paolo Maldini seem destined to leave Milan.

Geoffrey Moncada, the current head of scouting and the video analysis, is also set to stay on.
