GdS: Calf discomfort and a divisive festival appearance – delicate days for Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

It would be fair to describe it as a delicate moment for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who did not make a mark on the derby how he would have liked.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that the Swede cannot be happy after the 3-0 defeat to Inter, during which he came off with slight discomfort in his calf in the second half.

The paper claims that his small physical problem does not worry the Milan medical staff who will today evaluate Ibra’s injury before giving a definitive diagnosis. Stefano Pioli hopes it is not serious with vital games against Red Star and Roma coming up, and the head coach needs his leader during a tough moment for the team.

Either today or tomorrow, the 39-year-old will also have to define in detail his program for next week when the Sanremo Festival is scheduled. It is certainly dividing opinion among fans and the media that the star man is leaving for a festival given the crucial period Milan are about to enter, but it is an agreement that the player had made with Rai before the renewal and therefore Milan club will not ask him to forego.

At Milanello they are still calm because they know Zlatan’s professionalism well and therefore they know that his head will always be firmly on the field.
