GdS: Chelsea willing to offer €100m+ for Leao but Milan shut the door

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will not be selling Rafael Leao before the transfer window closes later tonight despite Chelsea’s attempts, according to a report.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Leao will not leave Milan before the deadline tonight despite Chelsea being very much wanting to get him on the next plane to London, even being willing investing three figures to sign him.

Chelsea’s interest in Leao has been revived late in the mercato and sources in England have been writing about a negotiation between the clubs for a last-minute deal, but in actual fact there is no chance of anything materialising.

The Rossoneri are actually confident that they can get Leao to extend his deal beyond the current contract deadline of June 2024. Once the summer transfer market is closed, Milan will finally be able to focus on Leao’s situation.

There is of course the added sub-plot that Milan will meet Chelsea in the Champions League on 5 October in the group stages.

  1. Left it late but should have taken it if this was on the table. If there was an option of getting a pre-scouted replacement in today, I’d still be happy for them to take the deal – will be lucky to get half that in 12 months’ time, by which time his agents will advise him to wait and go for free anyway.

  2. people seem a bit 2 eager to sell the mvp of last season on here. Without rafa our atk is dead in the water, he was the only one trying to make things happen last match…

    1. He’s overrated as hell, 3 months he won a mvp with, he’s isn’t good enough. Muriel had the same numbers is this overrated bum, he’s lazy and finishing is poor, only good when he has space or a slower rightback. I would accept 80 for him, his mvp was the biggest joke, Martinez is doing for 3 years what Leao does for 3 months. LEAO’s numbers aren’t even worth a mvp, Muriel and Dzeko had the same g/a as him

      1. i cant take you serious when you say rafa isnt good enough. Sure he has room to improve but the fact stands he is our best forward atm. But hey if you dont like players that win serie a im sure we could always get a cerci, constant, matri type of players in instead…

  3. Sell him in Jan if he doesnt renew by then. Its too late now to sell and find replacement.

I would totally go for Gakpo with Leao’s money. That guys is the real deal at LW. and remaining money we can get someone for RW after we qualify to round of 16 in UCL.

That way new signing will be counted for 2023 and 2022 will be financially safe and stable without overspending.

  4. Ya’ll trippin on Way45 too early! I’ll bet you half o yall also said Pioli Out the instant you sniffed his record wanting Rangnick instead!

  5. Thank God we’re headed by smart people like Maldini and Massara, not the braindead bunch we see here… 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  6. I want to see everyone wanting to sell him and calling him lazy and overrated to eat their hats when he scores double-digit goals and double-digit assists

    1. And show up in when needed too. For example next Saturday would be good place to start.

“eat their hats when he scores double-digit goals and double-digit assists”
      – I’d be happy to do so. I’d even be glad and buy you a beer if he starts to justify his 7M€ salary demands. But until that… Let the actions speak for themselves.

  7. when Leao is dispossessed of the ball he mopes around instead of being mad and getting the ball back, last half of last year he was always marked by two, which meant someone was free, and low and behold he got a bunch of assists. His agent has him believing he can walk on water. He thinks he gets roughed up in Serie A ,sell him and go play in the PL. Guess we will truly see if he can walk on water…..he is a big fish in a little pond.
