GdS: Childhood dream, Ibra pairing and No.9 shirt – Giroud ready to make his Milan legacy

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud has shown that he is ready to take on a new challenge with AC Milan and do so by tackling it head on.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Giroud showed up yesterday afternoon at Milanello and did it in his own way. He is eager to be a protagonist with Milan and is proud to have finally got the chance to wear the Rossoneri shirt, something he admitted in his press conference has always been a dream.

“As a child I had to play in the Premier League and in Milan. Arsenal and Milan were the favorite teams and being here now is like a dream come true. I admired Papin, Van Basten, Shevchenko who then became a friend. I also asked him for advice on my future,” he said.

Giroud has often been talked about as an alternative to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the former Chelsea man is certain that the two will be able to do well on the pitch together, perhaps in a formation that would involve playing with two strikers.

“Ibra and I can complement each other, it’s not difficult to understand each other with players like him. I’ve already talked to him a few times in training and asked him how the injury was going. He has a great personality. I am ready to play with him and show that we can play together,” he said.

Despite the failure of many strikers with that number, Giroud is not afraid and has decided to wear the No.9 shirt, something which is a clear indication of how serious he is about writing his own legacy at Milan.

“As I said I’m a Christian, I don’t believe in curses, if I play well or badly it won’t be for the number I wear. on the back. I will always keep in mind that it is a shirt worn by many champions, yes, but I’m not superstitious and I don’t think there is anything to dispel.”

In short, the French striker is very excited for this new adventure and can’t wait to be the protagonist with the Milan shirt.
