GdS: Defeat for Gazidis as Rangnick looks set to reject Milan role – the main reason

By Oliver Fisher -

The chances of Ralf Rangnick coming to AC Milan this summer are decreasing by the day, at least according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The paper (via MilanNews) claims that despite some outlets reporting that an agreement has been reached and that the German will arrive at the end of the season, the chances of him moving to San Siro are in fact ‘increasingly distant’,

The current Head of Football for Red Bull was not too enthusiastic about Ivan Gazidis’ proposal, as the owners are not ready to grant Rangnick unlimited funds and freedoms for the technical revolution that he would have demanded in accepting the job.

Without such reassurances, he is unlikely to take on the role. This is a defeat for Gazidis, who had bet heavily on Rangnick and his way of understanding and playing football.

There are however still sources that claim a possible rapprochement between the parties is not out of the question, perhaps after the end of the Coronavirus emergency. It is no coincidence, in fact, that Zvonimir Boban has made certain statements on an alleged principle of agreement between Gazidis and Rangnick.
