Days continue to tick by with Charles De Ketelaere having not yet arrived, and it could force AC Milan to change their strategy.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan are still in talks over the 21-year-old Club Brugge attacking midfielder and are willing to offer €32m in total, but the Belgian side want €35m to sell having had a bid of €37m from Leeds United.

Within 48 hours a decision either way will arrive, and Milan will either have the man they have been working on for weeks or they will be forced to reshuffle their mercato and go for other targets.
The reason is simple: an expense of over €30m with a budget currently just over €50m would change how negotiations on other targets can be conducted. On the other hand if that money were not used, it could go elsewhere.
This could be good news for Yacine Adli, who has had an impressive preseason so far in the playmaker role. Stefano Pioli made it clear that he had not yet identified the most suitable position for the Frenchman but now the feeling is he can play behind the striker.
Therefore, if De Ketelaere did not arrive and if Adli were declared suitable for the No.10 role, then sizeable financial resources would be freed up for other operations such as Hakim Ziyech, who could arrive on an initial loan and the money would be there to pay his salary.
It could also allow Milan to raise their salary offer to Renato Sanches or to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa, while Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan N’Dicka could become an option for the defence given his price is €20m.
I think Adli has shown great signs but I still would way rather sign De Ketelaere anyway he’s extremely versatile (can even play at RW if we need) and is great on a whole
Can Adli and CdK play together?
Adli can play anywhere in midfield. CDK can play at least as #10 and RW. Pleeeeenty of options for them to play together.
Way better option is to have two starting lvl nº10 has Adli and De Ketekaere then having one starting lvl nº10 in Adli and one lvl third or fourth option in Diaz!
Exactly and don’t get me wrong, Adli so far has shown levels but who knows if he’ll stay consistent because you know what happened with Diaz
since when do we ONLY have 50M???? we saved money from the winter mercato and we had at least 60M specific for the summer mercato … so we should be north of +70M at the very least!
The last winter mercato, the remaining budget was 5 millions (spent on Lazetic).
Last summer mercato, Milan can spend 70 millions because they don’t spend in the previous winter and summer mercarto (their transfer was actually net positive at the winter and summer windows before last summer, which means they receive money instead of spending)
Milan made loss even last season. They need to fix their budget due to FFP so the first thing they’ll do is get the budget above zero. The remaining money can be used for transfers.
Why wasting 32m out of 50m for this CDK guy, this management is funny, you can not pay Sanchez salary, have no DM and CB yet but will pay 32m for a clubbrugge player who Is not even the best player in his team, still raw and not knowledge of how much he will need to adapt and even less technical than Adli and poor decision making…….No one should take Adli out of that starting 11, i don’t care how much CDK is signed, put him on RW but Adli should be untouchable

Bingo, someone’s been paying attention. Milan have made a loss nearly every year, though Elliott covered it because the value of the asset was growing – there’s some positive spin on the fact that the size of the loss is reducing, but it’s a loss nonetheless.
They failed at the last round of FFP and will likely fail the next one (though should be able to escape any sanctions due to showing willingness to comply and the Covid clauses).

The truth is that Milan is run by a Vulture fund that only goal is to save as much as possible so as to gain as much as possible before they sell the club for much higher gain to another owner….the only difference now is that a Vulture fund sold to another vulture fund, so it’s all same cycle……

Did you know that Juve has their own stadium. That brings roughly 100M€ more income to their bank account each season. That’s how they have the money to finance those deals and Milan don’t. Plus they have had a proper management & discipline in their finances for years. Unlike in Milan where Berlusconi & Li just threw hundreds of miillions down the toilet for a decade or so. Literally.

If CdK turns out to be a flop, then 35 mil are wasted. If we use Adli as a no 10 and bring N’Dika, the Vila fellow and Ziyech that may turn out to be very lucrative. I would select the second scenario

Genuine question, but have many commenters even watched many 90 minute performances from Adli? He’s only been training a few weeks at the club and played a couple of friendlies.
At the moment, I would doubt he’d be ahead of Diaz in the pecking order, who’s shown strongly in his first few games of the last two seasons. Fingers crossed he works out, but let’s see him pick his way through a defence at San Siro a few times before deciding the role is sorted IMO.
Yeah i agree with you kinda, he looks more dynamic compared to Diaz for the most part, but we havent seen him in a competitive Game yet. Serie A doesnt give the amount of space he has had in the last 2 friendly games.
Im hopeful his dynamism puts him ahead of Diaz though. Diaz looked useless most of 2021/2022. I think he isnt physical enough for his role in Serie A.

Adli is very promising, gives me Zidane vibes, although obviously not at the same level. He has not played in Serie A but neither has CDK. I also wonder, if CDK is so amazing why is Leeds, a relegation candidate, the only other club going after him?
