AC Milan lost their first league game in 28 as they were beaten 3-1 by Juventus, but it was a defeat borne out of impossible conditions.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri have fallen but have done so with their heads held high, fighting on equal terms against a team in Juventus who are more complete and had far more options on the bench. After 304 days and 27 consecutive games without defeat, Stefano Pioli’s men tasted defeat.
However, the paper writes how the evidence offered against the reigning champions strengthens the convictions and the confidence in Pioli’s team that they can quality for the Champions League at the very least. The absences weighed heavy with injuries, suspensions and two positive COVID cases decimating the line-up and the bench.
Milan’s young players remained in the game for a long time and confirmed the qualities that brought them to the head: courage, enthusiasm and playing the right way. There is no time to dwell, given that on Saturday they will be back on the field again.
