Since joining AC Milan, Yunus Musah has lacked regular minutes, and a report has suggested that a January move could be possible if he does not follow Paulo Fonseca’s requests.
The case of Musah is quite confusing because there is very clearly a promising player there. However, there have been issues in unlocking that player regularly. Perhaps, this could be due to a lack of continuity. However, improvement is required.
As Gazzetta dello Sport write, he has played 43 Serie A minutes between September and now, and if these numbers do not increase, a January exit is probable. There is time to reverse this, though, and Musah has the skills to do so.
After his poor game against Parma, he has remained mostly sidelined, forced to watch three midfielders rotate, rather than being involved himself. Nevertheless, the club believe his future is in the midfield, rather than at wing-back like he has played for the United States.
It is probable that the American will play against Club Brugge, rather than starting against Udinese – due to his late return from the United States. Then, Bologna looks like a likely appearance, and perhaps, an opportunity to get continuity.
Fonseca asks for a more competitive Musah, and whilst his belief in his ability still remains, if there are no signs of improvement soon, a departure could be on the cards. Gazzetta states that a loan with an option could be possible in January, given he is still a player with a ‘Premier League market’.
Loan him out to give him minutes. Somewhere he can actually play CM or CAM. He’ll be a star in the future
How can you demand more from someone that doesn’t play – demand more from Leao ffs!
What a circus
Hilarious how the midfield players we signed from the Tonali sale with the exception of Reijnders have been a failure….none of Ruben, Musah, Chuk, have really worked. The ironic thing is the one that has worked isn’t a replacement for Tonali a player we are now desperately trying to find…how about that summer we didn’t sell Tonali and just signed Pulisic….what the hell was the point of it all…..and now here we are replacing that failed set of signings and spending more….who don’t look a whole lot better
Bingo!
Reijnders is hardly a success. He was average last season, got benched for Adli at some point. Now we read that he could be benched for Loftus-Cheek. He’s very consistent at being almost invisible. If he doesn’t improve at some point, you can label him as a failure like the others.
Well…I’m Basing this on Cardinale era standards mate, not Seedorf/Pirlo standards
When Reijnders is labelled a success, then you know your team is seriously mediocre and Pioli was actually overachieving.
Reinjders is the most consistently average player I have ever seen.
Have you seen Tonali?
Milan needed to bring in many new players that summer, so the management had to buy cheap ones hoping they could work. What is a bigger mistake is that this summer, where the focus had to be on quality rather than quantity, they again went after ones available on the cheap.
Yep, that’s the moneyball insanity…I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think of Milan lining up with Scalvini, Bellanova and Ricci…they are certainly an upgrade in where we were
Atalanta apparently want 60 mln for Scalvini (or at least wanted before his big injury), and that is too much for a defender who is still rather raw. Buongiorno was a very good option this summer, and also Calafiori if one would like to invest a bit more money on a top quality, Serie A-proven defender who could lead the backline for at least a decade. Indeed there are several good players in the Serie A that would do well at Milan, though unless fans put pressure on the management, I doubt they will give priority to buying local talent.
Scalvini was world class in the final against Leverkusen, I really rate him. I think he’s the one who will rise to the top. There seems to be an entitlement among Italian ownership whereby they want to fleece premier league money on the sole basis that they can. It’s self harming though because it just makes the league poorer…short term vision.
Ruben Dias went for 60m and he’s not at the level he was in 2020…
Scalvini is imo a 30m player And rightly so.
Tonali je više vrijedan nego svi oni skupa .volio bi da je ostao !!
“how about that summer we didn’t sell Tonali and just signed Pulisic….”
Or with the money of Tonali, bring Koopmeiners, Hjulmand/Ricci and Pulisic
Well yes…a good point well made
Fofana, Pulisic hilarious?
Another one from the 110 million euro shopping spree for the bin Moncada?
kinda agree bart reijenrds was avarege last season and disappered in the big games last season and this season miss a big chance against leverkusen we should have kept tonali bough puli sportiello and maybe reijnerds for some more depht in cm
First of all, never trust what GdS says about Milan. They are a bunch of Interisti and Juventini and they love to stir trouble.
Second, given our American owner, I find it unlikely that it will be very easy for the local officials to unload Musah. Gerry will likely object.
But it is true that Musah must improve. However, I’ve seen signs of improvement here and there; less of a headless chicken running around, carrying the ball but never finishing a play; he’s been a bit more consequential. It is also interesting to notice that Musah had a phenomenal performance for the United States national team just a few days ago, including, he scored.
Dont even need GDS when we have that Inter scum in the comments
Musah grew up in Italy until he went to academy in London. He is not someone that anyone in the us knows exists outside of a very small group. Like he may sell 5 jerseys a year. He probably sells more jerseys in the UK…
Complete nonsense. Musah has a bald eagle in his passport and that’s all that matters when this management decided to recruit a right winger to turn him into a useless midfielder. There were only two players at the Yankees stadium during the US summer tour, and it was Pulisic and Musah.
You know that people have more than one passport right? he has 4. Gattuso recruited him, his former coach who played him exclusively as a central midfielder. But what does he know about midfielders?
Someone is gunna get the deal of a lifetime…if you take a look at his stats he is leading the team in assists per 90, passing completion, fofana still hasn’t won as many tackles in 5x the minutes, the press breaking is also useful. They miss the counter attacks. After how he played last season against psg, Dortmund and Newcastle he may have enough interest across leagues to get a bidding war going. I’m guessing they won’t let conte have him…so much for betting big…
” fofana still hasn’t won as many tackles in 5x the minutes, ”
Maybe relates to the best defender in history saying “you’ve already made a mistake if you have to make a tackle”.
To be clear he has attempted many more tackles. He just doesn’t win the ball or gets dribbled by.
People say he is unfinished etc., I don’t see it..very unlikely will end up being a world class midfielder..more like someone who will end up in a lower tier club or league and be remembered for having once played for a great club..
Let musah play as an attacking midfield against club Brugge to see his effectiveness with chukwueze and leao at athe wing I believe we get a Good results but our problem is tomori Pavlovic and Gabbia should play for Acmilan defence throughout the season then tomori should just play only second half the January we can sell him and replace him with a Good defence so Acmilan should sign an attacking midfield like two this January is very important for Acmilan we will qualify from champions league group but we must be mindful.
