AC Milan are pursuing the signing of Marcus Thuram on a free transfer, and the ‘French colony’ that is already present within the squad would help him acclimatise.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recalls how his father Lilian Thuram said in an interview with them that Marcus already speaks Italian and thus if a Serie A side were to come in for him he would have no trouble understanding the coach and his new team-mates.
However, it would be an especially seamless transition at Milan where French is practically the second language in the dressing room. Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud are just some of the French-speaking players in the side.
When Elliott Management took over Milan after the insolvency of Li Yonghong in the summer of 2018, the Rossoneri had 12 different nationalities in the squad from Argentina to Switzerland and Turkey to Croatia.
However, French was not one of those nationalities, and that changed with the arrival of Tiemoué Bakayoko, who then returned on a two-year loan in the summer of 2021.
The introduction of French players into the squad has become a productive habit with Pierre Kalulu, Maignan and Giroud all joining, plus Yacine Adli most recently.
Theo is potentially the best example of growth given he arrived from Real Madrid as a player who had scored 3 goals in 89 professional appearances and was not in the French national team, but has scored 24 times in 167 games for Milan, is now worth €60m and started a World Cup final last year.
Giroud was reborn in these two years at Milan too, as he helped end the Scudetto drought with very important goals and in Qatar he became the top scorer ever in the history of Les Bleus.
Maignan was not in Qatar because he was injured but now he is his country’s No.1 after Hugo Lloris’ retirement. PSG are also in the running for Thuram, but he could be convinced by Mike, Olivier and Theo during France’s training camp in Clairefontaine in the coming days.
So new boys in director board and newly promoted “Manager” could not convince anyone, huh?
Still early, not even in July. Calm down
The Belgian colony fail to lure Tielemans.
Or the Belgian colony, of Origi, CDK and Vrancxx told Tielmans to not come here? 🤔
😆😆😆
Bathelomeo – want to add anything negative?
Thank you for asking 🙂 Actually I would love to see him join. I think we have the same playing time argument than PSG who does need a starter too, but they offer a better salary. Let’s see if the fact that he would play with French fellows can help.
Theo and Giroud were at Roland Garros yesterday, with Pavard. Maybe they can convince him to join Milan for free next year when his contract expires, since Bayern is reportedly asking for a lot of money to let him leave this summer. He could be useful too.
Ibrahimovic (Milan legend) side by side with Mbappe (Milan fan) watching Djokovic (Milan fan).
Pavard is a useless cripple. He’s only played over 30 league games twice in his career. For a 27 year old, that’s pathetic.
Yeah he’s a World Champion and a World Cup finalist as a starter, starting 26 games for Bayern this year. He’s able to play CB (not his best position though) and RB. You’re right he would probably be useless for us.
I don’t want to LoL but can’t help but LoL 😂
We just gonna make up reasons now like French colony ? 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you know where else there is a “French colony” of players? PSG
This article is nonsense if they’re implying some of our squad speaking French gives us the advantage
