Olivier Giroud has been the main striker at AC Milan for almost two years now and whilst he continues to score goals and maintain his fitness, he is still the only natural goalscorer at the club.
As has been highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), the French striker has managed to score over 10 goals in his two full seasons in Italy and he is on four Serie A goals already this season. He got 11 in his first season and 13 last season.
He continues to be a worthy starter, but he is 36 years old and must have his minutes managed. Whilst it turned out to be a small issue, his recent injury with France highlighted the need for depth.
The likes of Divock Origi, Ante Rebic and Marko Lazetic have not been able to score the sorts of goals needed, whilst Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic have never hit the sorts of figures that Milan may need in the future. Okafor has never hit double figures, and Jovic has once with an impressive 27, but this was in the 2018/19 season.
Therefore, it is fair to say that Giroud is still the only natural No.9 at the club and that is something that needs to be addressed.
We doomed
No one else will ever be prolific if they don’t get a proper chance. And I don’t mean 10 mins at the end of each game
