GdS: €17m striker remains top Milan target but the management are reflecting

By Oliver Fisher -

The bad news about the Growth Decree will certainly force reflections among the AC Milan management, but a report has claimed they are still lining up Serhou Guirassy.

During a recent feature we highlighted how the Growth Decree functions exactly in terms of numbers while presenting some of the perceived pros and cons, while Italy’s deputy PM Matteo Salvini confirmed the plans to scrap it and explained the decision last night.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Guirassy was and remains at the top of Milan’s wish list. His €17m release clause would allow them to purchase him from Stuttgart in January, and he is an opportunity that the Rossoneri have been thinking about for some time.

If anything, there are two more obstacles: competition, with Premier League clubs in the lead, and the Government’s failure to extend the Growth Decree, which inevitably makes the operation more complicated from the point of view of salary.

Guirassy’s salary is already €3m net per season which is quite high, and the initial request is around €5m per year from his next club, which instead of being just under €7.5m gross for Milan would be around €10m.

This is why Milan are now reflecting: without the assistance of the tax discount the salary costs would rise, but securing a striker with 19 goals in 16 appearances by spending less than €20m would remain a bargain.

    1. No it is not. He is an average striker that couldn’t score over 10 goals in Ligue 1 for years. It is much cheaper to pay even 70M for a proper player and not give money to deadwood like Origi or Guirassy. It is better to burn money in a fire pit…

  1. I hope Milan are wise enough to wait for a new coach to sign a new striker, based on requests and preference. Address more pressing needs, like defensive mids for example.
