AC Milan full-back Theo Hernandez has completely recovered from the ankle injury he suffered in preseason, a report claims.
Hernandez arrived from Real Madrid this summer for €20million and made two appearances in preseason, one against Novara in a behind-closed-doors friendly and the other in the International Champions Cup.
The latter saw him come off before half-time in a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Kansas City, but he has been working hard on his recovery since.
MilanNews.it reported prior to the game against Hellas Verona on Sunday that Hernandez had fully overcome his injury but was unlikely to start at the MarcAntonio Bentegodi.
Ricardo Rodriguez did indeed get the nod at left-back, but attention has now turned towards Saturday’s crucial derby.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Hernandez will indeed be fit enough to start the game, but Giampaolo still believes that the Frenchman must ‘fix some movements’.
The head coach has made a point that all his new signings must be up to speed with the way he wants his team to play; something which was evidenced by the fact none of the six summer acquisitions started against Hellas.
