AC Milan will be up against Venezia next week and while the starting XI hasn’t been fully decided yet, Gazzetta dello Sport has made an educated guess on the matter. Indeed, the international break gives us some clues.
For starters, Ismael Bennacer suffered an injury in training for Algeria and will return to Milanello early. It’s unlikely that he will be risked at the weekend, especially since Milan then have the games against Liverpool and Inter.
A similar discussion can be applied to Alvaro Morata, who has just recovered from his injury and is working to get back to full fitness. The likes of Yunus Musah and Christian Pulisic, meanwhile, will return late as the US have their last game on Tuesday night local time.
As per the pink newspaper (see photo below), therefore, Samuel Chukwueze and Tammy Abraham are pretty much certain to play from the first minute. With the injury of Bennacer, this should also be the case for Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders.
Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Tomori, Pavlovic, Hernandez; Reijnders, Fofana; Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Abraham.
why isnt calabria the rb we saw emerson in the 2 games he is awful calabria is a better rb than him
Maybe because Royal can speak Portuguese with the Portuguese manager
Fonseca speaks 4 maybe 5 languages. Communication isn’t an issue
How we have Chukuwezes name on Milans roster, I’m sure I’ll never know
Ask your family ‘Oracle’ anti-Chuks, is he not a good baller?
Do you not also read what the article said about Captain America returning late, i despised people like you who claim to be good at all things. Leave my countryman alone in peace!
Your countryman better start showing some of his skills on the pitch or it will be better to play Okafor in his place even when that’s not Okafor’s preferred position.
Chuk is getting paid by Milan. Are we asking him to play for free? No we are not. Maybe tell your countryman to step up and not be a dead beat instead of spitting out these BS “be kind don’t be toxic” messages. He has a fckng job, he’d better do it properly. He should at least have some respect for himself.
cthulhu help us
Lol sure lets get the same thing one more time. It’s gonna be so much better probably….
I’m not optimistic even against Venezia because I still believe we are not using our midfielders in the best position. Until Milan switch to a 433 or 442 this team will be even worse than Pioli’s Milan.
I just hope we don’t waste time with a coaching change.
Even the best formation will not work with a fragmented squad.
The players specially in midfield are playing like if they didn’t train together before, and the ones that try to be proactive and move the ball forward get subbed.
Fonseca was able to provide an attacking football with a mediocre medfield of Veretout, Cristante and sometimes even Mancini at Roma. I think he couldn’t communicate his ideas to Milan squad, or maybe he doesn’t have good staff to help
If Fonseca give Emerson chances to start he will be better and better
Looking at the player’s history suggests the opposite. He failed misserably season after season at Spurs and with different coaches.
I would not expect that much from him specifically in defence, I would argue that giving Calabria the chance to start and understand Fonseca’s game he will be be better than Emerson Royal.
they are both slow, honestly I will prefer Calabria to Emerson non sense, there is nothing Royal about his game
Loftus out get Reijnders there its better !
Are we sure Fonseca’s not Pioli with a wig?
Loftus cheek as an AMF is really a Milan problem.
Common Sense:
– Alternate Emerson with Calabria game in and game out.
– Swap Reijnders’ and RLC’s positions.
– Switch to a 433.
We played quite a bit of 433 last game.
Ter Pav Tom Royal
Puli Fof Rein
Ok4 RLC Chuk
We looked pretty good going forward and when we defended organized. The moment we had to chase back from the high line though it was a clown show.
So I would add to your 433 recommendation to ease off th suicide press until our D has enough reps to play as a unit.
I would give Emerson another chance, but yeah, swap RLC and Reijnders. Only god knows why all our coaches are so obsessed with RLC as an AM…
Piloi was able to use RLC in his system similar to some extent to what he did with Stefano Mauri with Lazio. A physical player that can score and hold the ball specially in transition.
Fonseca’s system if you watched Roma when he was in charge is all about attack and quick transition from defense to offense, RLC will not shine is these situations and will seem like a slow heavy player that doesn’t blend in a quick system.
Totally agree but I am a little skeptical that 433 or 4231 will work with Fonseca and the current squad.
Maybe 343 like what Fonseca did with Roma will be more suitable, I would love to see Theo playing closer to Leao and hopefully that will suit Emerson Royal characteristics better than playing as RB in a 4 line of defense.
RLC again?
Reijnder will be so frustrated with this setup, we see how ineffective he was last Match
Do I have to break RLC leg myself?! Put Liberalli ffs if Bennacer is injured
It’s so sad to say it but Calabria who’s not good is unfortunately better than E. Royal.
Loftus cheek, chukweze, and emerson royal. RIP next game
What happened to pulisic?
Just too tired, will arrive to Milan less than 48 hours before Venezia after flying for over 16 hours. Last time he had to play after a long flight back from the USA he wasn’t good.
Even the coach doesn’t know who will start the game, not the journalists. But let’s fantasize a little: Tomori outside, Gabi inside, RLC and Rejienders to switch places and that’s it.
is RLC possessed by Maradona in traning or what?
swap him w/ Tiji please
Drop Loftus all together, Is Fonseca not watching the replays of our matches. RLC adds nothing to this team with his slow big bird @ss.
What is it with our coaches and refusing to change failing tactics? Seriously. Accept that it doesn’t work and adapt
Calabria is still better than Emerson all days of the year. RLC at the attacking midfield position is a waste of slot. 90mins no chance created, no single dribble. Just they shield ball to results in free kick for either team.
No single Italian in Milan first 11, what a shame.
