GdS: Kjaer ready to use all his UCL experience with Milan – he was right to trust Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

Simon Kjaer’s experience will be vital for AC Milan as they prepare for a return to the Champions League, a report has highlighted.

La Gazzetta dello Sport notes how Kjaer is one of the most experienced player in the Milan squad, with defender having played more games in the Champions League (15) or in Europe (55). He actually bickered with Ibrahimovic back in November 2016 during Fenerbahçe against Manchester United as Zlatan tripped him up near the sideline before grabbing the Dane. At the end of the game Kjaer would call Zlatan “arrogant”, but of course it is all solved now.

Kjaer has played in the Champions League for Fenerbahce, Sevilla and Lille, but the last time he played in the competition was for Atalanta as they beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0, but he chose to answer the call from Stefano Pioli and join Milan a few months after.

Injuries aside, Kjaer has been ever-present for the Rossoneri, forming a partnership with Fikayo Tomori that allowed the team to end the season with five clean sheets. Simon was right to trust Pioli.
