LaLiga side Villarreal are reportedly interested in the idea of re-signing winger Samu Castillejo from AC Milan before the window ends.
The 24-year-old arrived in an €18million deal from the same club last summer but has so far failed to set the world alight, amassing four goals and two assists in 31 league appearances last season.
There have been doubts over the Spaniard’s ability to adapt to Marco Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 system given that he plays predominantly out wide.
However, the player’s agent – Manuel Garcia Quilón – cooled rumours of an exit earlier this month.
“If we will listen to offers? Absolutely not. Castillejo is very happy at Milan and he has great motivation ahead of the upcoming season,” he told Calciomercato.it.
According to Tuesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport though, Castillejo’s future could be back in LaLiga as Villarreal are interested in bringing the player back.
The Valencia-based club do not intend to pay the €18m they sold him for, and therefore will need a well-structured formula to try and seal a deal.
