GdS: Lazio and Romagnoli continue negotiations but distance persists

By Oliver Fisher -

There continues to be uncertainty surrounding the future of AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli as he has not yet found an agreement with Lazio.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Lazio are continuing their pressure to sign Romagnoli on a free from Milan. Unless there is a surprise twist, the Italian will not renew his contract with the Rossoneri which expires on June 30th.

The latest Biancoceleste offer of €2.8m net per season plus bonus is still considered too low by the defender who is asking for at least €3m in order to join his boyhood club. The parties are continuing to negotiate, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito will have to be careful of competition from other teams who are in the running.

Romagnoli joined Milan from Roma back in the summer of 2015 and has been a mainstay of the defence until the last season, where Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu became the first choice pairing.

  1. This is insanity. We wont pay 3m to keep our Captain and an Italian international, but will pay 30m for Botman who will be on even higher wages, and will have to adjust to a new team, league and country. Save the money and use it for AMC, right wing and a striker.

    1. I guess Romagnoli wants to leave anyway since he lost his starting spot. Also thanks to the tax reform Botman will definitely earn less than Romagnoli, who is the most expensive player on our balance sheet.

    2. Exactly. This is outrageous. Just give him the 3+ he wants. He’s been an exemplary professional the entire time he’s been here and we can focus our time elsewhere that is needed.

  2. I believe it’s to much money for Ramagnoli. Lazio need to look at others. Casale from Verona and Viti from Empoli would be good additions. Let’s build a team that can challenge the bigger fish in the pond and relive our late 90s and early 2000s. FORZA LAZIO!
