Rafael Leao is no longer considered unsellable by AC Milan and his replacement could arrive from Sampdoria, according to a report.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that Mikkel Damsgaard is the ‘new name’ for the Milan attack but he is not new to the scouting department, who have been following him for some time. The 20-year-old has shown his quality and potential both with Sampdoria shirt and now with the Danish national team at Euro 2020.
Massimo Ferrero, Sampdoria’s president, has already set a €30m asking price but ultimately the fee he ends up receiving – if he sells Damsgaard – will be dictated by the market. Many clubs have already knocked on Sampdoria’s door to ask for information, and Milan are there observing the situation.
If Leao’s departure were to materialise then a concrete pursuit of the Dane is expected given his ability to function as an attacking ‘wild card’ of sorts. Even though he is primarily a left winger, he can also play as a playmaker or on the right.
