GdS: Lille and Jorge Mendes – Milan’s two red hot market axes

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Lille are set for another hot market axis this summer with negotiations between the two clubs ongoing, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Lille duo Renato Sanches and Sven Botman are in the sights of the Rossoneri, who are seen as the ideal reinforcements for the midfield and defence respectively.

Renato Sanches is seen as Franck Kessie’s replacement but he could also be used as an attacking midfielder, and with his contract expiring in June 2023 – and the player not willing to renew – around €15m should seal the deal.

Through his agent Jorge Mendes, the Portuguese midfielder was asking for €6m net per season, but attempts are being made to lower the player’s claims to €4m.

Meanwhile, the track that leads to Botman also remains alive and yesterday he admitted to wanting to take the next step in his career, with the Rossoneri happy to provide him with a return to playing in the Champions League.

Then, there is Rafael Leao. The talks with Mendes concern the winger too, and the plan of the club is to extend Leao’s contract for a further two years, until 2026. There would be a pay rise and also the release clause would be increased which would help to drive away the many suitors, including Real Madrid.

  1. Tying leao is our priority, and €200m as release clause is enough, no one will be crazy enough to pay that amount for leao,,
As for sanchez 6m is too much, we better keep kessie for that 6m, wasn’t kessie asking for that amount? Cmiiw
As for botman, i think bremer is better choice as he has serie a experience and a beast,

  2. Romagnoli and Kessie was homegrown player (Kessie moved to Italy at 18 years old). Milan currently lacking in homegrown players, how are they going to replace Kessie with Renato?
