GdS: Maldini meets Gazidis and communicates decision – he wishes to stay at Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

With the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, Paolo Maldini would have almost certainly left Milan, but now that the German will not arrive the situation has changed.

Stefano Pioli has signed a new deal to remain as head coach into next season, and therefore the Milan technical director is destined to remain in his place.

Wednesday morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how the former Rossoneri captain met CEO Ivan Gazidis a few days ago to discuss various topics, first of all defining roles and strategies in detail.

As soon as the season ends, Maldini will meet Pioli to talk about next season and above all about the spending campaign which will have to reinforce the Milan squad in all departments.

Maldini, who still has two years of contract, has the full support of Elliott and also of Gazidis, and the meeting cleared the air regarding contentious issues such as the fact the South African manager contacted Rangnick without informing the sporting side of the club.
