GdS: Mancini strongly considering national team recall for Milan star Tonali

By Oliver Fisher -

Italy boss Roberto Mancini is thinking of rewarding AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali for his impressive start to the new season, a report claims.

Earlier in the month, the 21-year-old midfielder led the Italy U21 side to a 3-0 victory against Luxembourg in the first qualifier for the European Championships. Tonali registered a hat-trick of assists, thus confirming the good things shown in the early part of the season.

His performances at club level have been outstanding too overall, after a difficult first season with Milan. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Mancini is considering re-adding Tonali to his squad list given the 21-year-old has been the best Italian midfielder (with Lorenzo Pellegrini) so far this season.

The coach called him up for the senior national team in 2018 when he was at Brescia but, due to the decline in his first year at Milan, he was sent back to Coach Nicolato’s Under 21 team.
