AC Milan have shifted their focus from Alvaro Morata to Mehdi Taremi for the No.9 role, as per the latest reports. The Spaniard is too expensive and the Rossoneri like the Iranian international.
According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), Morata was the main target for Milan for the centre-forward role. However, Atletico Madrid are asking for €20.5m and the player wants €5-6m per year in wages.
Therefore, Milan have turned their attention to one of their backups: Mehdi Taremi. He may be the same age as Morata (turning 31 this year) but he could perhaps be available for just under €20m. Furthermore, his salary would be reasonable.
He has just one year left on his contract but Porto are expected to play hardball, remaining firm on their €20m demand. The big issue, of course, is that Tarermi is a Non-EU player and would thus rule out the arrival of someone like Samuel Chukwueze or Daichi Kamada.
Taremi has already rejected offers from Saudi Arabia and is very keen on continuing his career at a club like Milan.

If this is how they spend the Tonali money I don’t see the point of selling such an important player at all. There are three things Milan desperately need and have been needing ever since Pioli arrived: Modern striker, prolific right winger and a world class trequartista. These are key to the way Pioli wants to play football but so far we have spent money on literally every other player than those! Taremi is not a bad player but he is the complete opposite of the striker Milan needs right now. And if we sign him, it’s goodbye to Chuckwueze and a proper right winger in this window… again!! Just sign Chuckwueze & Reijnders and the get Scamacca on a loan with obligation to buy or something. Then they can try late in the window to get SMS as well. Then we are talking…

It’s wages that are the difference – outlay on wages for Morata would be ~8-10m per year, but I guess here it would be something closer to 3-4m

If Morata wants to join Milan Atletico will have to get rid of him at one point. But I would prefer Taremi from those 2.

Over a four year contract for either, Morata is probably close to 60m overall (15m per year) and Taremi would be closer to 35m (so under 9m per year)

I think Taremi wouldn’t ask that much. He gets 1.5M gross at Porto. I’m sure he would be satisfied with 5-6M gross due to growth decree. Probably even less.
But the info on how much he earns is really different. From 150,000 which is false to 6M a year which is also false so I can be wrong. The most legit data looks like it is 1.5-2M per season.
Contract and salary wise yes, Morata is a lot more expensive. And Taremi’s gross salary would be cheap also due to tax relief which doesn’t apply to Morata anymore. But I was refering to buyout sum. I don’t think they would spend 20 millions on Taremi, a 30 year old in his last year of contract while filling last non EU spot. Or maybe I am wrong. Let’s see.
Morata and chuck are expensive. So either non-eu kamada-kun or taremi are signed this mercato.
It’s incredible to see how clueless they are in their search for an attacker! Surely this EU rule is a problem for them as well as the budget, of course, but it seems to me that now they are slowly becoming desperate in this search! Somehow I don’t believe that this transfer will happen.

The best one of all is one we already have ..that is Olivier Giroud….he lives in the 18 yard area ,,,and inside that area there is simply no one better than him …yes of course he has not got speed ,but the first few yards are in his head …He has got such strong physical ability and his technical ability is superb ,,.he knows exactly where to be at the right moment ..He will score goals against any team in the world …yes 37 years of age ….I will tell you all something now …He will have best season this one …He has been a huge asset for us …Yes we need a back up for him ,but not a replacement…you can’t replace his class .As long as he has pace around him which he has especially with Loftus cheek ,and pulisic ,and rafeol leao ,then goals will come …I do like Loftus cheek,but my biggest concern is if he can stay free from injury..if he can then he will also be a huge asset for us .He has pace height and physical strength and is a very skillful player…..I do believe we AC Milan will challenge for honours again this season ..
