GdS: Milan and Lazio both cool interest in signing playmaker from Atalanta

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s interest in signing Josip Ilicic from Atalanta seems to have cooled for the time being, according to a report.

Ilicic has been repeatedly mentioned as a potential transfer target for the Rossoneri as they look to replace Hakan Calhanogly, but ccording to what La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanLive), the Milan management have in fact taken a step back in their pursuit of the 34-year-old.

Milan and Lazio were strongly interested at one point but even the Capitoline club have not made a concrete move to land Ilicic despite the fact that a summer exit still seems almost certain, given the poor relationship between the Slovenia international and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

From this, we can deduce that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have chosen to focus on other profiles, with targets like Marcel Sabitzer, Isco and Luis Alberto all mentioned recently as possible options.
