GdS: Stalled renewal and Dutch interest – Milan at risk of losing Simic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are at risk of losing one of the brightest prospects from the Primavera as they are struggling to agree a renewal with Jan-Carlo Simic and there is interest from abroad, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) confirms that Milan could lose Simic in the summer. The captain of the Primavera side, which reached the UEFA Youth League final, is attracting interest.

His contract is expiring in 2025 and nothing filters out that suggests a renewal is imminent. Instead, the news is that Feyenoord are definitely interested in signing him and immediately giving him a chance with the senior side in the Eredivisie.

There have already been dialogues and the situation can evolve quickly, because Simic is in the extended list of Serbia’s squad for the European Championship, with a chance of getting into the final squad list.

Feyenoord may want to try get there before the rest of Europe sees him on the biggest stage. In the meantime, the Rossoneri must now feel a sense of urgency to try and extend the contract of one of their brightest prospects.

Simic made his first team debut this season at a time when there was a crisis in the rearguard, and he scored against Monza in December. He appeared tp be a very mature defender when given minutes, something that seems to have stemmed from his leader status with Ignazio Abate’s side.

  1. Thanks to Mr Pioli… If he had been playing this last couple of months, we might not have shipped so many goals. Get him out before he steals the cutlery…

    1. This is becoming ridiculous. Wasn’t Simic part of the Primavera that got hit with so many goals (3 in 45 minutes in the last game against Torino for the playoff).

He’s talented, but there’s a difference between being talented and being ready. If Simic was ready, we’d have teams knocking on our door asking to loan him during the Winter transfer.

This is not Football Manager ffs.

    2. Lol this mo*on blaming Pioli when it’s the management who handle contracts. And Simic played for Primavera who conceeded a lot of goals that they need a playoff.

Come on mo*on, do some research before commenting.

  2. I don’t blame him if he leaves, Pioli never trusted him even when Milan ran out pf defenders he played Theo as CB and a very bad form Thiaw… Barcelona is playing with a 17 years old defender, we got Simic a very very talented young player who is already 18 years now and still looking to bring another defender from France

  3. This is why I’d like to see Xavi coaching Milan. A foreigner who has not been brought up on the scared mentality of Serie A. Someone who has the courage to make young Academy players important!

    1. You don‘t overplay them if you want to make them strong. Happened a couple of times at Milan in the past (SES, Loca, Pato)

    2. There are two good options regarding Simic’s situation:
      – Since Kjaer is leaving, promote him to the first team.
      – We need a good RB, so let’s try to buy Geertruida and include Simic in the deal.

  4. How the f*** can Milan coaches/management be so blind to see that they have a gem in their hands. Forget about Thiaw, Simic is the real deal.

    1. I have no beef if this guy decides to leave, Pioli had all the chance to play this dude but choose other options, and the few times the dude hit the pitch, we could all see he had the quality but Pioli must be Pioli. Management needs to sit and discuss this project squarely and let thses lads know if they have any future in this club or else let them leave for free or peanuts and watch them become stars in other clubs.

  5. We’ll lose him to Feyenoord (or some other) – they’ll hold on to him for a couple of seasons and then wont be able to say no to 60 or 80 mill bids from EPL or Bayern/Real Madrid… Pioli has done untold damage to this club with his neanthertal tactics, poor selections and boring football… good riddance
