GdS: Milan believe they can finally land Barcelona defender as Koeman pushes him to Italy

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are once again interested in signing left-back Junior Firpo from Barcelona and this time they could be successful, a report claims.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanNews), Milan already tried to sign Firpo in January and are once again pushing for the Spaniard, but this time he is described as ‘within reach’. Five months ago the dialogue with Barcelona stopped because the full-back of Dominican origin preferred to stay with the Blaugrana.

However, the confirmation that Ronald Koeman will be staying on as the head coach pushes him towards Italy, where he would be tasked with being the new deputy to Theo Hernandez. With the Champions League to play, the playing time and opportunities will increase for everyone, including the deputy to Theo. Not only that, but Stefano Pioli would welcome another attacking weapon for the left side, which was deadly for most of the 2020-21 season.
