GdS: Milan consider €30m Lille star and Benfica midfielder as Bakayoko deal slows

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are struggling to close a deal for Tiemoue Bakayoko and therefore have turned to two other potential targets, a report claims.

According to Saturday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), negotiations for Bakayoko are experiencing a stalemate, so Milan want to protect themselves by evaluating other solutions for the midfield.

One of these is Florentino Luis, and on Friday Paolo Maldini met Bruno Carvalho, the agent of the Portuguese player. The paper describes it as an interlocutory chat that confirmed that the player would be more than happy to join the Rossoneri.

The priority remains the return of Bakayoko, but Milan must be ready with a plan B in case the operation fails. Florentino was a target in January, but an agreement with Benfica was not found. Fulham are also interested and recently offered a loan with option to buy set at about €20m.

Another name that Maldini and Massara like is that of Lille’s Boubakary Soumaré. The 21-year-old is valued at around €30m, but the good relations with the Ligue 1 club could favour Milan.
